The ASCO website is an excellent resource providing publications, articles and news on cancer.  It is the professional organization for cancer specialists.  This is a pay site but guest accounts are available.

The Web presence of the American Cancer Society is navigated using the left-hand index. Users can link to local American Cancer Society chapters, find cancer information by organization (within this disk, we will link directly to the relevant American Cancer Society page for that cancer type), research and grant opportunities. News Today provides the latest cancer-related news updates.

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center website provides information on many types of cancer.  In addition, they maintain a list of support programs, clinical trials, international programs and prevention regimens.

Link directly to the Mayo Clinic's Health Oasis Cancer Center to view the latest headlines regarding many types of cancer, reference articles about cancer that are organized by type of cancer, quizzes, cancer glossary and links to other cancer sites.

National Cancer Institute http://www.cancer.gov/

The NCI offers a comprehensive Web presence, addressing the needs of patients, health professionals and the media. For anyone with questions about cancer, the NCI offers a free service, called Cancer InfoService. The service takes questions from the public, patients and health professionals Monday through Friday from 9 am to 4:30 PM. Users can call 800-332-8615.

NCI's Cancer Information http://cancernet.gov

Specifically for health professionals, the NCI's CancerNet can be accessed from this link. PDQ, NCI's comprehensive cancer database, contains peer-reviewed summaries on cancer treatment, screening, prevention, and supportive care. All PDQ cancer information summaries are peer-reviewed and updated monthly by five editorial boards of oncology specialists.

This cancer site from the University of Pennsylvania allows users to navigate easily using topics on the left-hand navigation bar, or scrolling down to menu topics found on the main page. On the left-hand navigation bar, access Cancer News for the latest medical updates on the cancer front provided by Reuters Health. By scrolling down on the main page, users can access disease-oriented menus, medical-specialty-oriented menus, psychosocial support and personal experience topics; cancer causes, screening and prevention; and more. In this disk, under specific cancer categories, we will directly link you to the OncoLink disease area of interest.

Cancer Information Network www.cancernetwork.com

This on-line service for health professionals is a membership only access site. From PRR, Inc., the site allows users access to database and search information specific to cancer. These include: Medline, AIDSline, NCCN guidelines, NCI's PDQ and CancerLit for health professionals, full text articles from Oncology, Oncology News International, Primary Care & Cancer and Cancer Management, as well as access to the Cancer Drug Reference Guide and more.

National Comprehensive Cancer Network http://www.nccn.org/

The NCCN's Web presence offers descriptions of the networks activities and goals. The NCCN's 16-plus member institutions strive to improve cancer care and treatment through implementation of the NCCN Oncology Practice Guidelines. The NCCN also has established the National Oncology Outcomes Database to maintain clinical information, however this information is not available on-line.

Healthology http://www.healthology.com

Healthology brings health professionals together to offer information to consumers in a Web-based interactive format. The Web site is managed by two physicians who then gather other health professionals to answer questions posed by the public, to update other health information and offer Web casts. A prominent feature of the site, Web casts on various health topics can be viewed "live" or users can click and review in real audio format previously aired topics. This site is well-designed and easy to navigate. It offers links to a bookstore, as well as health briefs, which is an A-Z format of various health topics.
